Caleb Carr grew up on a southwest Wisconsin meat farm. They spent many a day outside doing farm labor with their family. Caleb graduated in 2021 from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration. While attending university, they took an interest in working at the Ruth Foster Gallery in the department of Art & Design. Before long, Caleb took on a curatorial project for the Foster Gallery, becoming the first student to curate an outside exhibition for the gallery.

Caleb's goals are to create artwork that is as low-waste as possible. In a field that is dominated by objects deemed too valuable to dispose of, the end of an artwork's life is not often considered. From the start, Caleb acknowledges that the artwork they produce will one day need to decompose in order to avoid contributing to the abundance of waste generated by a consumer-capitalist culture. Recycled hand-made paper, soil, plant life, and found litter are materials of interest for Caleb's art.
